Bharat Mobility Global expo: Mercedes Benz unveils Concept CLA Class, Maybach EQS 680 Night Series
NEW DELHI: Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Concept CLA Class, and Maybach EQS 680 Night Series on Friday at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in Delhi.
This concept vehicle marks the electric successor to the CLA and represents the first model in a new series of entry-level luxury vehicles based on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA).
The Concept CLA is the first car developed on the MMA platform, which supports both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains. Details about the ICE variant of the CLA are not yet available. The focus remains on the CLA electric vehicle (EV).
Exterior design
The next generation of the Mercedes CLA retains its four-door structure with a sloping rear roofline, offering a coupe-like appearance. The front grille has been designed to blend seamlessly with the bumper, and the headlights feature the three-pointed star logo in an LED signature. A LiDAR sensor is positioned on the roofline above the windshield.
Sustainability features
Mercedes-Benz claimed that it has incorporated eco-friendly materials in the Concept CLA's cabin. These include recycled PET and paper trims, bamboo fibre for door mats, and a vegan silk-like fabric for the edges of door pockets.
Technology and range
The Concept CLA will support SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving. Mercedes-Benz claims the vehicle will achieve a range of over 750 km on a single charge with an energy consumption of 12 kWh/100 km. In just 15 minutes, the Concept CLA can recharge for up to 400 km.
The company describes it as "the one-litre car for the electric age," referencing highly efficient internal combustion vehicles.
The company has not announced specific timelines for the CLA's launch.
This version includes blacked-out design elements on the exterior and interior, along with distinctive Maybach-specific styling. It is expected to retain the same dual electric motor setup, delivering 658 PS and 950 Nm of torque, with a WLTP-claimed range of 611 km.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV Night Series debuted at the event as a special edition variant of the brand's flagship electric SUV. Priced at Rs 2.63 crore (ex-showroom), the model features unique blacked-out styling elements on the exterior and interior, along with bespoke Maybach design cues.
It is expected to retain the dual electric motor setup of the standard EQS 680 SUV, delivering 658 PS and 950 Nm of torque. The SUV offers a WLTP-claimed range of 611 km.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the largest mobility expo in India, which is expected to witness over 100 new launches across automobiles, component products and technologies.
The five-day expo is being held across three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in the national capital and India Expo Center and Mart, Greater Noida.
