2026 Hyundai Exter spied: What's new in updated Tata Punch rival
Hyundai Motor India appears to be working on an update for the Exter micro SUV. The facelift seems to be moving closer to launch, with test mules already spotted on Indian roads. Spy images shared by Rushlane on X show the Exter in heavy camouflage, and based on these images, here’s a look at what the updated model could offer as it continues to take on the recently refreshed Tata Punch.
The test car was seen with black camouflage covering the front and rear sections. It suggests that the model will clearly get some minor cosmetic enhancements in terms of design. While most details remain hidden, a few updates are still visible.
Up front, Hyundai is expected to rework the grille and front bumper design. The headlamp layout seen on the current model looks set to continue, along with the signature H-shaped DRL. At the rear, the model could get a redesigned tailgate, rectangular tail lamps and a revised bumper. Lastly, you can expect it to feature a refreshed design for the alloy wheels.
In terms of cabin, expected additions may include a larger touchscreen infotainment screen, an updated digital instrument cluster and a driver armrest. Hyundai may also include a dual-pane sunroof along with new upholstery options.
Mechanically, the Exter facelift is not expected to see major changes. It will continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre NA petrol motor. This engine belts out 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT option. Hyundai will also continue to offer the factory-fitted CNG variant.
While Hyundai has not officially confirmed a launch timeline yet, the facelifted Exter is expected to arrive in the Indian market in the coming few months. Image credit: Rushlane.
