features

a unique four-headlamp setup while new curves on the bumper and bonnet appear more contemporary than what is on the outgoing model. The split grille also looks much better.

The old-school round fog lamps have also been replaced with new sharp units, working as cornering lights as well. The side and rear profiles don't look completely new but there are new alloy wheels and reworked detailing in the tail lamp for a slight change.

The cabin design remains almost similar to the existing version. However, there is a redesigned steering wheel – similar to the one seen in the Superb, and new dials. The centre console gets a glossy black finish with a beige-coloured dashboard.

The six-inch touchscreen of the infotainment system has been replaced with a bigger eight-inch system (not available in the base trim) with new touch buttons. The system supports MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for multimedia needs.

Powertrain

There is no change in the engine and transmission options. The 2017 Skoda Octavia will be available with the same 2.0-litre diesel alongside the 1.4- and 1.8-liter petrol mills, powering the outgoing model.

The TDI oil burner makes 143PS of power and 320Nm of torque and comes with the option to chose from a six-speed manual or DSG automatic gearbox.

The 150PS, 1.4 TSI petrol motor comes only with a six-speed manual transmission and delivers a peak torque of 250Nm. The 180PS, 1.8 TSI engine also gets a single transmission option but it is a seven-speed DSG.
