The

Lamborghini Huracán STO

is priced at €249,412 (Rs 2.19 crore approx.) in the European market and is set to hit the streets somewhere between March-May 2021. TOI takes a closer look at the purest creation of Squadra Corse yet and its 10 highlights and why is it worthy of being an addition to the garage of a motorsporting enthusiast.

1. Massive

V10

engine that is not for the faint-hearted:

Lamborghini has bestowed the second-best engine in its inventory to the all-new Huracán STO. The street-legal hypercar boasts a 5.2-litre V10 engine under its hood. The enormous engine manages to produce 648 PS of power and offers a peak torque of 565 Nm. The rear-wheel-drive powertrain helps the car clock 0-100 kmph in just 3 seconds and 0-200 kmph in 9 seconds. The Huracán STO achieves a top speed of 310 kmph.

2. Soul of a racing car:

Although the Huracán is labelled a street-legal car, it embodies every principle that Lamborghini follows to give life to a race car. The Huracán STO sports a completely new exterior design adopting the signature Lamborghini profile to optimize airflow. The aerodynamic efficiency of the hypercar is extraordinary and although the design of the Huracán STO has been optimized for exceptional track performance, it doesn’t compromise with the aesthetics that a usual Lamborghini boasts.

3. The raw performance edge:

The Lamborghini Huracán STO delivers all the excitement of a well-balanced, lightweight and aerodynamically superior car that can perform with ease even on the world’s most demanding tracks. Taking inspiration from the Super Trofeo and the GT3 programs, the Huracán STO has been further refined for the driver to experience the emotions of a racer and also feel that raw performance edge whenever it is taken out on the streets.

4. Aerodynamic beast:

The Lamborghini Huracán STO achieves the highest level of downforce in its segment with the best aero balance for a rear-wheel-drive car. The delivery of a superior aerodynamic load also becomes a key factor in its enhanced cornering performance. The overall airflow efficiency of the hypercar is improved by 37% while the downforce has observed a significant increase of 53% compared to the Huracán Performante.

5. Lightweight hypercar:

The Huracán STO uses carbon fibre in more than 75% of its exterior panels and benefits from the complex structures made with a single component and that results in increased integrity while reducing the weight via fewer fixing points. The hypercar has adopted the carbon fibre sandwich technique which is used in the aerospace industry to maintain its structural rigidity. Compared to Huracán Performante, the STO weighs 43 kg lesser with a dry weight of 1339 kg. The light

Bridgestone Potenza

tyres and the lighter magnesium rims improve the performance of the car by a significant margin.

6. Good-looking track monster:

The Lamborghini Huracán STO, by no means, compromise with the visual aesthetics and looks much bolder, aggressive and athletic than the others in the Huracán line-up. The exclusively designed ‘confango’ (hood and fender) is inspired by

Lamborghini Miura

and the Sesto Elemento and gives the hypercar a distinctive look altogether. The sporty rear fender is derived from the Super Trofeo EVO and it also adds to the aerodynamic character of the car. The shark fin on the rear bonnet and the adjustable rear wing make the hypercar appear quite aggressive from the back too.

7. Lamborghini Squadra Corse at heart:

The Huracán STO has been calibrated for a very sporty and responsive feel and each element of the car has been carefully curated to give it an authentic overall character. Elements like fixed steering ratio, enhanced cornering ability, improved braking performance with

Brembo CCM-R discs

, improved pedal-to-throttle response, sharper engine sound, brake cooling feature, improved strength-to-weight ratio, improved aerodynamics and much more give that classic Squadra Corse touch to the hypercar and it feels much more refined than the rest of the line-up.

8. 3 new

ANIMA

driving modes:

To complement the Huracán STO’s racing spirit, the automaker has offered 3 new driving modes: STO, Trofeo, Pioggia. The STO mode is apt for driving on roads and is perfect on curvy roads. The Trofeo mode is optimized for dry asphalt and lets the hypercar achieve the fastest lap times on the track. The Pioggia or the rain mode optimizes traction control, torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering, and the ABS system on wet asphalt.

9. Interiors that amplify the racing DNA:

The interiors of the Huracán STO reflect the overall persona of the exterior. The extensive use of carbon fibre in the cockpit, sport seats, Alcantara interior with Lamborghini’s carbonskin, carbon fibre floormats, rear arch, a touchscreen system with Human Machine Interface (HMI) graphics add to the premium yet sporty character of the car from the inside.

10. Ad Personam personalization program:

The Huracán STO is highly customizable with the automaker’s exclusive Ad Personam personalization program. The program offers many colour schemes and trim combinations as well as race-style vinyls. The newly launched Blu Laufey and Arancio California amplify the young character and the racing spirit of the hypercar.
