Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup 2024: Rd 1 results and new 'Twin Power Trophy' explained
The first round of the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup 2024 concluded at the Madras International Circuit in Chennai on August 24 and 25, 2024. The event saw 24 racers from across India, selected after a rigorous process, battling it out on the track.
This year's competition introduced a new element, the Twin Power Trophy, which pairs a professional rider with an amateur, adding a fresh dynamic to the races. The Twin Power Trophy format brought together 12 professionals and 12 amateurs. The pairing of experienced riders with emerging talent is aimed at not only elevating the level of racing but also providing a platform for skill development and mentorship.
Anish Shetty claimed the first position in the professional category, closely followed by Navneeth Kumar S in second place. The third spot was secured by PM Soorya, who edged out Kayan Zubin Patel based on consistent standings.
In the professional category, Anish Shetty emerged as the leader with 18 points, while Yogesh P topped the amateur leaderboard with 20 points. The newly introduced Twin Power Trophy saw the duo of Navneeth Kumar and Johnson Saldhana take the top spot with 29 points.
In the amateur category, Yogesh P led the pack, with Nijin A and Johnson Saldanha securing the second and third positions, respectively. Race 1 saw Anish Shetty take the lead in the professional category, followed by Navaneeth Kumar S and Jagadeesh Nagaraja. In the amateur category, Yogesh P secured the top spot, with Johring Warisa and Nijin A completing the podium. The intense competition continued in Race 2, where Navaneeth Kumar S claimed the top position, while Anish Shetty and Soorya PM took the second and third spots. Yogesh P maintained his winning streak in the amateur category, with Johnson Saldanha and Nijin A following closely behind.
