2024 KTM Duke 990 revealed at EICMA: Gets 973 cc engine with 123 hp power
Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer KTM has revealed the new KTM Duke 990 at the EICMA 2023. The new Duke 990 will sit above the KTM Duke 890 and will be manufactured at KTM’s plant in Mattighofen, Austria. The bike is expected to go on sale starting in 2024.
In terms of design, the Duke 990 features a vertically stacked twin-pod LED headlight flanked by a pair of sleek LED DRLs. The overall design is very unique compared to other KTM models. The bike is based on a new steel trellis frame suspended by a WP USD fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. The USD fork is an open cartridge unit that’s adjustable for compression and rebound. The mono-shock is adjustable for rebound and preload.
Braking duties are taken care of by twin 300mm discs at the front bitten by 4-pot callipers. At the rear, it gets a single 240mm disc paired with a single-piston calliper. Talking about the tyres it gets Bridgestone 120/70-ZR17 at the front and a 180/55-ZR17 at the rear. The bike has a seat height of 825mm and tips the scale at 179kg.
The KTM Duke 990 is powered by a company’s new LC8c engine and KTM says it’s Euro 5+ compliant. It gets a liquid-cooler 947 cc, parallel-twin engine that puts out 121 bhp of 103 Nm of torque. Engine cokes paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of features, the 990 Duke gets all-LED lighting, a USB Type C charger and a 5-inch coloured TFT screen. There are also five riding modes with Rain, Street, Sport offered as standard while the Performance and Track modes are optional.
