Sachin knows more about when he should retire: Kapil Dev

When former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev visited the city on Thursday, he created quite a buzz. He spoke to students about their passion for sports and even encouraged parents to let their kids follow their dreams.
In fact, when one child asked him what he should do as his mother doesn't let him play, Kapil spoke to his mother and said, "Let your child do whatever he likes.Let kids try all options and then decide what they want to take further. Even my mother wanted that I should study but my interest was always in sports. I was born to play. Every parent wants his child to achieve a high position in society, even I would like to see my daughter as the Prime Minister of India but her interest is different and that is exactly what matters."
When TOI asked him what his daughter is passionate about, he said, "She is too young and so her passion keeps changing. I believe that having a passion is what takes you further." As for cricket, he feels that this is the best time for youngsters to enter the sport, thanks to the T20 and IPL. "Nowadays we have many formats in cricket like the T20, ODI, IPL, so there's plenty of young talent involved. We just have to provide facilities. Once you are 100% disciplined, it will bring you everything."
Not very long ago, Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from one day cricket. Ask Kapil about this and he says, "Sachin Tendulkar knows more about when he should retire. Memories of great players live on for a long, long time. We all know how much he has contributed towards Indian cricket and there is no doubt in saying that many people watch cricket matches only because of this great and iconic player."
