4 Vastu mistakes in urban flats and ways to fix them
Dealing with tough times or facing sudden losses or unexplained health conditions and instability in relationships? Then these may be an indication towards Vastu dosha. Unfortunately, people staying in urban houses and flats have limited to no scope of playing around with Vastu elements and relishing the infrastructure of the home as per Vastu principles. Well, if you too find it difficult to align your home as per Vastu Sastra, then we have got your back with some simple tips that will make things easier for you!
The urban challenge
Most urban flats and houses often deviate from Vastu principles due to their compact layouts that focus on functionality over directional harmony, which often leads to energy blockages that cause stress, financial hiccups, or family discord. There are some common mistakes that you must look out for if you happen to stay in an urban setup!
Wrong Main Entrance
In many cosmopolitan flats, the direction of the entrance is mostly facing the south or southwest, which, according to Vastu shastra can blocking prosperity as north or east doors are believed to bring positive cosmic energies. These wrong entrances can lead to stagnant energies that affect career growth, prosperity and happiness.
A simple remedy to deal with this is to hang a convex mirror above the door to deflect negativity; one can also place auspicious symbols like the Swastika on the frame and use bright lighting with green plants to redirect negativity towards the north.
Northeast Toilets
Another common Vastu mistake from urban cities is that most of these flats have toilets in their northeast (water zone), which is believed to drain wealth and health, as this Ishanya corner governs clarity and finances, per ancient Vastu texts.
Fix: Keep doors closed always, and also keep a bowl of sea salt or a Vastu pyramid on the floor if possible, and one can place a celery plant or copper strip along the wall to absorb and neutralize draining energies.
Southeast Bedrooms
This is also a common mistake in urban homes: bedrooms are made in the Southeast direction, which is ruled by fire Agni. It is believed the agni (fire element) sparks arguments and leads to crisis, conflicts and insomnia. It also clashes with restful sleep vibrations needed for relationships.
Fix: To reduce the ipact of this dosha, it is best to paint the walls in calming blue or green colour, and to position bedhead towards the south, and hang a family photo or moon image on the west wall. It is also advised to avoid mirrors facing the bed to prevent energy bounce-back.
Cluttered Brahmasthan
The central part of any house is known as Brahmasthan, the home's energy heart, and loading it up with furniture or beams in flats can lead to stagnant energy that impacts overall harmony and causes restlessness.
Fix: Clear the center space, use light colors and minimal decor, or place a crystal lotus or wind chime overhead for beams to circulate prana freely.
