Chandra Grahan 2025: Do's and Don'ts for Pregnant Women during Lunar Eclipse
Eclipses are rare celestial event and they are also known as the significant astronomical phenomena. When the Earth covers the Moon's light from reaching the Sun, it is called a lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan. As a result, the Earth is situated in a straight line between the Sun and the other two celestial bodies. This year's last Total Lunar Eclipse is going to occur on September 7, 2025 and this time the Moon will be transiting in the Aquarius zodiac sign.
The coming lunar eclipse is also believed to affect people's physical and mental health, especially that of expectant mothers. Eclipses are important and uncommon astronomical phenomena. Lunar eclipse is also known as Chandra Grahan, happen when the Earth blocks the Moon's light from reaching the Sun. The Sun, Earth, and Moon make a straight line, and this occurs when the Earth is in the middle of that line. when the Earth completely or partially blocks the Sun's direct light, preventing some of it from reaching the surface of the full moon.
Eclipses are considered to be very important since it is believed that when Rahu or Ketu comes in contact with these planets or we can say that when Rahu Ketu over shadow these planets, may affect a person's mental and physical health. It is believed that during the time of Grahan, people should be careful especially the people with medical conditions and mothers, who are expecting their baby as the changes in the Sun and Moon's positions could impact pregnancy and for that they are advised to follow some rules and regulations to protect the health of an unborn child. There are some important customs in Hinduism which needs to be followed by the pregnant women and these these customs include - avoid eating during eclipse, not sleeping during that time, bathing right after the eclipse, maintain celibacy during the eclipse, and not leaving food unattended during the eclipse due to contamination fears. 1. Pregnant women are advised to stay away from solar and lunar eclipses. In order to protect both their own and their unborn children's health, pregnant women are recommended to take extra precautions during the eclipse.
2. It is widely believed that women should stay indoors during an eclipse since doing so could endanger their unborn children.
3. Avoid eating anything during the eclipse and especially the food that was prepared before the eclipse.
4. During the eclipse, pregnant women must take a break from work and unwind.
5. They are advised to take a bath after the eclipse. If it is not possible then they must sprinkle gangajal to cleanse their aura.
6. Expected mother's are advised not to touch any sharpen objects during the eclipse.
7. They should not sleep during the eclipse.
8. Pregnant women are advised to keep a coconut filled with water in their lap during that period.
9. Pregnant women should chant mantras that will calm their mind, body and soul.
10. If you are unable to chant any mantra then read religious books such as Ramacharitmanas, Bhagavad Gita, Shiva Chalisa, Sundarkand, and Hanuman Chalisa.
