Time for BJP to initiate inquiry into alleged corruption by Cong

JODHPUR: After Vasundhara Raje's swearing-in ceremony on Friday as the new chief minister of state, it is now time for the government to keep its promises. Manifesto apart, these promises also include those about which the BJP leaders were quite vocal and predominantly have a bearing on the alleged corruptions by the Ashok Gehlot government. The allegations range from shady deals with corporates, land appropriation for solar plants and Robert Vadra to recruitment of lecturers in the Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur.

Of these three issues, the BJP leader and co-incharge for the Rajasthan assembly election, Kirit Somaiya had promised to initiate inquiry through a commission into the shady corporate and lead deals. Referring to the 'black paper' released by BJP on September 13 in Jaipur, comprising all the alleged scams of Gehlot government, Somaiya had said that BJP would form a special investigation commission within a week of formation of its government in Rajasthan to probe the scams of Ashok Gehlot government.
Somaiya, while emphasizing the probity of these allegations, had challenged that he was ready to go to jail, if a single scam or document of the black paper, is found to be false. Likewise, while referring to the alleged land scams in the name of solar parks and Robert Vadra, Somaiya had said that the BJP government would complete the inquiry in the matter and return the land to its original owners within three months of coming into power.
Not only Somaiya, but chief minister Vasundhara Raje herself had promised, while referring to the teacher's recruitment at the Jai Narayan Vyas University, to revoke the entire recruitment process and start it afresh. During her visit to the spot where protesters were staging a dharna, Raje While having visit to the dharna spot, Raje had assured the protesters to also initiate an inquiry into the matter and punish the culprits. The protesters have been sitting on a dharna outside the Collectorate for past one year.
The university had 196 vacancies for teachers in different faculties, of which 154 had been filled and the rest posts had been kept vacant citing that no eligible person was found despite the fact that about 5,000 applicants from across the nation had applied. It was alleged that most of the successful candidates were relatives of politicians, judicial officials and also university professors.
