INDORE: While the debate over skull cap created much stir at the national and state-level politics during the entire campaigning,
BJP's 'hat-man' Sudarshan Gupta impressed one and all on Sunday by winning with a fair margin of 61,963 votes.
Gupta has succeeded in maintaining 'gentleman' image in constituency number 1 of Indore, which witnessed revolt within the party by Usha Thakur for not getting ticket from the constituency.
Of the two constituencies in Indore, where the 'Shivraj-Modi' factor strongly worked was constituency number one and four. Once a strong foothold of Congress, Usha Thakur had won the seat in 2003 election.
According to city BJP chief Shankar Lalwani, Gupta and his party workers remained active and focused on the development works of the constituency. Gupta was seen actively campaigning and was a pretty popular due to his image. The opposition, on the other hand failed to win the confidence of voters and its internal revolt weakened party's position on the ballot ground.
