Saturday evening was booked for Lucknowites for an interaction with author and scriptwriter Anuja Chauhan. Although the busy festive season made a few regulars at such events skip the evening, the turn-out itself was enough to charm the lady whose soft-drink taglines of Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai and Oye Bubbly! are still quite the attention grabbers.
Seeing her audience Anuja said, “My God! I’m feeling so conscious sitting in front of such a distinguished audience. This is my first visit to Lucknow and in the few hours that I have spent here, I’ve already tasted the chaat, shopped in heaps for chikan outfits and am eagerly waiting to have biryani and kababs,” she said.
People enjoyed talking to Chauhan who sat with her feet propped on the chair and narrated anecdotes of her life as an advertising personnel, writer and being the daughter-in-law of politico Margarate Alva. Sangita Jaiswal spoke about loving Chauhan’s works as did Nishi Pandey.
What also attracted people’s attention was the designer sari that Pandey wore. “It’s a tribute to 100 years of Hindi cinema. Someone complimented me on it and said, ‘badan pe sitaare lapete hue! and actually I have all the stars draped on me,” said she.
