Google Voice Access app to let you control your Android smartphone

NEW DELHI: Search engine giant Google has announced the launch of Voice Access in beta version. The app will enable the users to control their Android smartphone via voice.


Using the Voice Access app users will be able to give commands like ‘go home’, ‘scroll down’ or ‘open chrome’. Users can also swipe across the screen, open apps and send messages using only their voice. The new feature is based on the same tech behind the ‘Okay Google’, hands-free command. In order to further simplify the process of navigation via voice commands, the Voice Access app puts a series of numbers around apps on the screen of the device, so that the user can tell the device to tap a number and go ahead with the interaction.

Google said that the service focused on users with disabilities. The beta version of the app was available on the Play Store by a beta sign-up process, however, now the positions of beta-testers have been filled.


Recently, the tech giant also launched an easy to use ‘Accessibility Scanner’ for Android, which analyses the apps for accessibility issues. Moreover, the users can also use voice to edit and format in Google Docs with a series of new voice commands.
