Time for a walk of fame?
If H'wood has its walk of fame immortalising stars who left a mark in the sands of time, why shouldn't Bollywood?
If Hollywood has its walk of fame immortalising stars who left a mark in the sands of time, shouldn't Bollywood too have its own 'walk'? Specially since as an industry, Bollywood is known to emulate the West (be it in picking up story ideas or trying to act in Hollywood films).
1x1 polls
We suggested the idea to a few 'eligible' celebs in tinselville...
H Zeenat Aman: It is a fantastic idea and I believe all icons that Bollywood has produced so far, should have a space there. The place should be in Mumbai as it has been the centre for Hindi cinema for ages. A prominent promenade should be ideal.
H Anupam Kher: Mumbai doesn't have a place to stand at leisure and we are thinking of a sidewalk? As an idea it is fantastic since it will record the contribution of cameramen, directors, technicians as well as actors for posterity.
But practically speaking are we culturally so respectful? Just look around. A road named after Laxmikant, is in terrible condition. A 'walk' like this might be a great photo opportunity but soon it will also be the subject of politics.
I won't be surprised if people come up with petty issues stating that 'my ancestor' was greater and so needs a bigger star on the walk of fame and so on.
H Anil Kapoor: It is a great concept. And just like Hollywood, we can start one here too. A place that commemorates stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand et al. The place? Why not near the Gateway of India.

H Dev Anand: Every achiever's contribution in this country needs to be commemorated. If we don't have a place like the Walk of Fame then the country is not doing justice to its citizens.
In Mumbai such a place needs to be developed but it should be kept beautiful and clean, well organised and well-manned. Preferably near a film studio.
