Pak'ing it in Avadhi style

Choicest delicacies from Avadh's fabled dastarkhan will tickle the taste buds of the Men in Green, in Kanpur.
Pak'ing it in Avadhi style
They are not part of the Indian XI but Mohammad Ameein and Abdul Haleem who take on the Pakis in Kanpur on Friday may just end up doing what our bowlers find so hard: Bowl over Inzy! The two master chefs from Lucknow will spin a web of choicest epicurean Avadhi delights for the Pakistani cricketers during their stay here. But it''s Inzamam for whom they have made some khas intezam.
The Pakistani skipper whose fondness for food is as legendary as his delightful stroke-play will have chicken burra, kakori kebabs, Biryani and his favourite nalli nihari. The main course, shall of course, include chicken shashlik, nan, dal masoor, lamb stew, steamed vegetables and fresh salads. The gravy train doesn''t end at Inzamam. Spread out for his deputy Younis Khan, there will be a dastarkhan with equally mouthwatering dishes, including Khan''s favourite paneer tikka, baked vegetables and murgi jhol.
"As requested by the Pakistan Cricket Board, all dishes would be halal and low in fat content," says the hotel''s head chef Avdesh Bhadouria. The CMO and his representatives would open the innings on the dining table. "Before they are served to the players, all dishes will be sampled by officials from the CMO. It will be a feast for them as well. But then, it''s a part of their job," quips Bhadouria.
As per the dietary guidelines given to the hotel management by the PCB, all food should be rich in carbohydrates. Sure enough, potatoes, both mashed and baked, figure prominently on the menu for the Pakistani team. The chefs too have prepared a special dum aaloo dish for the Men in Green. Wonder whether, Pak''s cool as a cucumber skipper would really have a field day?
