Getting typecast is a Bollywood malaise and since I couldn't have endured it for long, I tried to rid myself of this debilitating image of being just a pretty face.
You're cured, we gather. In what measure?
The diagnosis sees me in the clear. I have Vikram Bhatt's Speed and Priyadarshan's Dhol under my belt. The prognosis reads well. I used to feel canned; now I'm cured. These films are going to see me in a different light.

I love being called sexy. But I wish to emote as well. Why should I be told to stick to 'my genre of films' ? If I can't bring variations to my roles, what am I here for? I can't be expected to pout and pucker up all the time.
All right, you need the roles. You need the makeovers too.
Sure. You can't fester in roles; you can't let the rot set in with the way you look. But you can only look good and ooze confidence if you can match it with an equally stellar performance.

My PR skills are suspect. I can't court the media and hence, have taken a lot of flak on the chin. I'm in perpetual hibernation and smoked out of my hole only before my films release. It's good karma that the few film-makers who've had the foresight to look beyond my BO turkeys and had enough faith in me to cast me in different roles.
