Ayub has actually tried all career options which most of the teenagers only think of while choosing a career. He might have done blink and miss roles but people still remember him for those short and substantial roles. Ayub Khan has acted in many films like Salaami, LOC (Kargil), Apaharan, Gangajal and Dil Chahta Hai. However, he is more famous for his roles in various TV serials. So, how did he become an actor? Well, Ayub has actually tried all career options which most of the teenagers only think of while choosing a career.
Sharing it all, he says, " I first tried my hand in aviation and wanted to become a pilot, then I tried farming, jewellery designing and finally became an estate agent too. All this while, my mother stood by me like a rock. She has always allowed me to do what I wished and has never forced any profession on me," he says.
So how did he finally settle down as an actor? Giving an honest answer to it he says, "The money offered in films attracted me and that's the basic reason I am into it," he says. Ayub has taken a sabbatical since he had been busy with his tight work schedules and so wasn't willing to talk anything about work or career. "I am really tired of doing so much of work on television and now I just want to shut myself in the room, sleep and relax," he says.
And he is making good use of the holidays by giving time to his two little daughters and wife Niharika . "I am spending time with my children, teaching them swimming and other things and now I am planning to go to Leh, Ladakh and other parts of North India with my family."
Talking about love and relationships, Ayub, nephew of Dilip Kumar says, "Respect is the most important thing in any relationship. After a point of time, love flies out of window and then its pure respect. I and Niharika are really evolved now and we have done things beyond the norms of the society. Now we are happy with each other," he says. Ayub met his wife after both of them had gone through a divorce.
"We both were dating each other before we got married to different individuals. But then again after twelve years, fate brought us together and we happily share our lives now," he says.
Having heard a bit of Gujarat and its people he says, "I know that most people here are businessmen and Gujarat has a historical significance too."
A pucca Mumbaikar at heart, he loves the crowded trains, traffic jams, rains and eating junk food at sea beach. "Even if I am offered heaven, I will come back to Bombay. One can take me out of Bombay but one can't take out Bombay out of me," he signs off.
