She has won a number of awards including international ones for her paintings. AT meets Esha Kothari. She started her journey in creative arts when she was just six years old. Today, after four years, she has won seven gold medals, three silver medals and has participated in four group art exhibitions at well-known art galleries of Ahmedabad. Esha Kothari is one of the youngest child artists of Gujarat to have won more than 50 awards for excellence in creative arts at state, national and international levels.
Esha comes across as a shy child. Right from her childhood, she loved playing with colours. Realising her love for colours, Esha's mother got her admitted in an art class. "I love colours and red is my favourite colour," quips Esha. After her school hours, she spends time in painting. "I balance my school learnings and my art. My parents encourage me to learn art. They want me to make my career in a creative field," adds Esha. Academic learnings coupled with excellence in co-curricular activities adds to the development of an individual. "My daughter spends hours to put her young ideas on canvas. I think, painting has certainly contributed positively to her growth as a child," says Esha's mother, Mamta Kothari. The year 2006-07 has been quite special for Esha. She won the first prize at the prestigious Mega Top Ten Awards 2006 in addition to an award at an international children's competition in Delhi last year and a diploma for single creation at 25th Art Exhibition, Bitola, Macedonia. She has also participated in a group art exhibition organised at a well known art gallery of Ahmedabad. Along with painting, she is also taking professional training for learning Indian classical music. "It feels nice when my art is appreciated . I like making landscapes on paper," says Esha.
