In Ahmedabad for a concert at YMCA club, Mahadevan wowed the crowd with a voice that effortlessly glides through the three octaves with consummate ease and a sense of rhythm that simply rocks! He held the crowd spellbound for three full hours.

Songs for your soul

Starting with the number that catapulted him to instant glory - "Breathless" he went on to perform other hits from Dil Chahta Hai and Mission Kashmir, both of which happen to be films, wherein he has given music along with Ehsaan and Loy. Mahadevan also happens to be a great admirer of A.R. Rehman and thinks "he is one in a million." The entire crowd was dancing to his tunes when he belted out numbers like "Kay Sera", "Urvasi Urvasi" and "Ooh la la la", all of which have music by Rehman.

A musical potpourri for the true music connoisseur

A child prodigy, Mahadevan is adept at both the North Indian as well as the Carnatic styles of Indian classical music. His in-depth training is easily evident when he fluently embellishes his songs with generous helpings of "Aalap" and "Sargams", both of which happen to be intrinsic parts of classical music. It gels beautifully with the Western instruments and beats that he uses for most of his songs. What the listener gets is a musical potpourri that can only be called unique!

Yeh Dil maange much much more!

After a short break, Mahadevan was back on stage again belting out the hit "Lagaan" number Ghanan Ghanan. His improvisations in the song sent the crowd in ruptures and he had to sing the song several times! A short medley of Kishore Kumar and Mohd Rafi was followed by tracks like Bhumro Bhumro from film Mission Kashmir and Suno Gaur se Duniya Walo from the film "Dus".

The "Breathless" guy surely brought in a breath of fresh air to Ahmedabad.
