A timeline of the Gulbarg society massacre

Gulbarg Society, a Muslim residential pocket of about 30 bungalows and 10 apartment blocks in Ahmedabad, had come under attack a day after the Sabarmati Express was torched in Godhra in 2002. 69 people, including former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, are believed to have been killed. Here's a timeline of the case:

2008: A Special Investigation team (SIT) was set up to probe the violence.

2011: Sanjiv Bhatt, Gujarat Deputy Inspector-General of Police appeared before the SIT. He was said to have exposed Modi's alleged controversial orders in the communal riots.

2012: The Ahmedabad court rejects Zakia Jafri's plea to making the SIT report public.
