A French treat
Wouldn’t it be a delight to have France and it’s delicacies in your own backyard? Now you can. Chef Christian Faure, Master Chef of France is in India to conduct workshops across chains of The Oberoi group of hotels in association with the French ministry of food, agriculture and fisheries; to teach the art of making French pastries.
The event saw food enthusiasts gape in wonder at the techniques used by chef Christian while at the same time being skeptical of making it themselves.

While a spectator at the workshop exclaimed that she is no dab hand in the kitchen, chef Christian offered to help. The spectator was only too happy to take the Chef home. Chef Christian joyfully said, “There is a pleasure in cooking and sharing it around the table.”
Said chef Christian, “You have to create your own culinary identity. You can’t have people come from Paris and say the croissants and pastries were amazing and taste the most common breakfast at Indian hotels: croissants and pastries; and say it’s not the same.”
On being asked about products used and their availability in India, he explained, “It is essential to use good quality products which are all available in India. Most buffet spreads look good but don’t taste as nice so we must be specific about ingredients and products.”
