BOLLYWOOD: Amitabh Bachchan repaid debt of farmers

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has said that he paid debts to hundreds of farmers

The amount paid as loan is more than four crore rupees.
On Tuesday, Amitabh wrote on his blog that he had taken 'responsibility' of 1398 farmers by paying their debts.
He also said that it seems like 'a work is done.'
All these farmers belong to Uttar Pradesh. Amitabh Bachchan comes from this state.
A large section of farmers in India is battling debt problems.

Amitabh Bachchan gave a loan to the farmers, which was given by a government bank.
According to his blog, this amount has been paid as a lump sum deal with Bank of India. The bank will issue certificates of 'no dues' in lieu of this.
The 76-year-old actor has written, "I would like them to give these certificates themselves personally."
Since it was a difficult challenge to bring all the farmers to Mumbai, a box has been reserved for 70 farmers on behalf of Amitabh Bachchan.
These farmers will arrive in Mumbai on November 26 to get their bank documents from Amitabh Bachchan. This year Amitabh had repaid debts of 350 farmers of Maharashtra.
In 2007, Amitabh had come under controversy over a land deal. In this case the court had also said that Amitabh was allotted 90 thousand square feet of land illegally.
