Meet TV’s Saheb, Biwi Aur... Boss!

What happens when one lie spins into a web of lies? You end up facing a series of troubles. SAB TV’s new office comedy, Saheb, Biwi Aur Boss, which starts today, showcases such a confusion.
The story revolves around three characters — a husband (Vipul Roy), wife (Mugdha Chaphekar) and her boss (Resham Tipnis). It’s about a happy couple who faces an unusual situation. The wife gets a job in a well-established company without realizing that they only hire unmarried individuals. In desperation, she lies about her marital status. While on the one hand, the boss wants to hook her up with her nephew, on the other hand, the husband dons a senior officer’s avatar and works in the same office to protect his wife. There’s another twist — the boss starts developing a soft corner for the senior officer!
Anooj Kapoor, Senior EVP & Business Head, SAB TV, says, “The show’s concept is refreshing. It hinges on situational comedy that always resonates with audiences. We have worked with producer Sanjay Kohli on F.I.R. that was a big hit. We hope to have another fruitful association.”
Saheb, Biwi Aur Boss starts today and will air every Monday to Friday at 10 pm on SAB TV.

Arav to play an ichhadhaari naag in a new show:

Move over TV actresses, it’s an actor’s turn to play an ichhadhaari naag now. Arav Chowdharry, who has played Bhishma Pitamah in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s 'Mahabharat', will now be seen as a snake-man in Yash Patnaik’s 'Nagarjun'. “My character possesses special powers and has lived over 200 years on earth in disguise. Besides, there is always an element of mystery around a snake-man. The show is set in today’s world,” says the actor who was last seen as the parallel lead in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. The character is like a desi Terminator. He says, “Like him, I protect the boy (the male lead) on the show and teach him how to fight. Though the character is 200 years old, my look is contemporary. Apart from the first episode where I am in a disguise, I will be seen in regular jackets and denims. I gained muscle for this role as it requires me to do a lot of action scenes.”

After content from Pakistan and Turkey, TV channel launches its original fiction series: Television channel Zindagi was launched with a promise to bring the best content to our small screens from across continents. In its second year of programming, the channel embarks on a new journey. It will soon launch storylines produced in India that break the shackles of age-old stereotypical content. Srishty Rode: I also talk to my car, but the difference is that I don’t get a response: Srishty Rode couldn’t have asked for a better role to explore comedy for the first time with Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Let’s Go! She says, “The show revolves around my husband and his car, which talks. The car also helps him in making things better between us. It’s a rather challenging genre as it’s difficult to make others laugh. At the same time, it’s a relief as I don’t have to use glycerine and shed copious tears required for family dramas.” The actress is enjoying playing Piya as it’s quite similar to her in real life. Piya, the ideal daughter-in-law, tries to impress the Ahuja family by taking initiatives, including trying out new recipes. All of this and more lead to funny situations. It is during this time that the family shares responsibilities to reduce Piya’s embarrassment. Talking more about her character, Srishty says, “Piya is bubbly, adorable and lovable. She loves to cook, but her experiments turn into disasters. I feel connected to this character because in real life, I don’t cook. But whenever I cook I end up doing some blunders — either the dish turns out to be tasteless or it is something drastic.” The actress, like her onscreen husband, shares a deep bond with her car. “I also talk to my car, but the difference is that I don’t get a response from it. I imagine that my car is a female and I take care of it like a small girl.”Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Let’s Go! airs Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm on SAB TV.

I thought this is a different show and adds to the humour quotient,” says he, adding, “I won’t have a problem juggling the two shows, as I am required to shoot just a day every week for this new show.”

Documentary on A. R. Rahman to premiere on October 26: 'Jai Ho', a 90-minute documentary tracing the journey of music maestro A. R. Rahman, is all set to premiere on October 26 on Discovery channel. The Oscar-winning composer said initially, he did not find it "necessary" to have a documentary based on him, but later director Umesh Aggarwal convinced him. "There were lot of offers before to do a documentary on me, but I felt it was not necessary. And after the Oscars and the brouhaha happened, I felt that people could get some kind of inspiration with my life through the journey of my life, through the way I'm making music," Rahman said. "And then Umesh, an award-winning filmmaker, contacted me and he said that initially it was only for the consulates all over. It was the kind of exposure which was good, but I didn't know that all this would happen," he added. However, the composer added that he "cannot watch myself". "People living abroad and having the Indian flag, they deserve to know about the people of India. I didn't know it'll come out charmingly like how it's made. I cannot watch myself and hate to watch myself," he said. Aggarwal said that it's the first "definite feature" on Rahman. "I am confident that this film will convey his astonishing success and global phenomenon," he said. Shot across the world, the film includes interviews of Aamir Khan, Danny Boyle, Mani Ratnam, Gulzar, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Shekhar Kapoor, Subhash Ghai and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber among others. The film traces Rahman's journey from achieving superstar status in India with numerous hits in a very short time to working with big names in the west. Shantaram made a living by giving out lamps at theatres while the artists performed and it was there where Shantaram ji first learnt what drama was all about,” he said at a media interaction here. “It is a unique show where I am learning about my own ancestors, and there was a time which existed prior to even my birth,” he added.
