Turnout in Srinagar Lok Sabha seat lowest ever

The turnout at the Srinagar parliamentary by-election this year, has by far been the lowest in history. Worse, the election has been witness to massive mob violence that led to the death of eight anti-election protesters. The reasons: Competitive separatist politics, anger against the deaths during the 2016 summer violence, and lack of preemptive policing.
