Small screen stars continue to say ‘I quit’

When prime time TV heartthrobs say ‘I quit’, fans still tend to go into a tizzy, and even resort to sending appeals online to (production houses and broadcasters to ) bring their favourite back on the show. However in Tellyland it’s now a pretty common phenomenon for TV stars to walk out of a blockbuster show for creative differences or personal reasons. Some TV sensations like Amar Upadhyay (Kyunkii Saas..). Barun Sobti (Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Duun?) to Vivian Dsena (Madhubala...) had their own share of fan following, making it virtually impossible for their successors fill their huge shoes, showmakers and the remote control junkies have to accept the inevitable, that irrespective of a star who’s moved on, the show will go on...

Pratyusha Banerjee Show: 'Sasural Simar Ka'
Pratyusha Banerjee will soon be quitting the show, with September 20 being her last day. Says Pratyusha, “There is no big reason for leaving the show. It’s a personal thing and I want to get back to my ‘sweet bahu zone’ as I used to play earlier. I did enjoy playing a daayan, but I am completely opposite from the character that I am playing in Sasural.... Overall, it was a great experience with lots of memorable moments. I enjoyed every bit.”

Yashpal SharmaShow: 'Neeli Chhatri Wale'
Versatile actor Yashpal Sharma decided to quit the show when his contract ended. Yashpal who has mixed feelings on leaving the show said, “Bhagwan Das was such a great character that he took over Yashpal. I am happy to have explored working on television, but somewhere within, I have begun to miss films and theatre and would like to focus on that.”

Shashank VyasShow: 'Balika Vadhu'
Shashank’s step to stardom came after he essayed the role of Jagya, a guy with grey hues in his character who did a U-turn and became affable and adorable eventually. Shashank who’s quit the show recently says, “There was nothing left to explore in Jagya’s character. I have played every shade. I want to evolve as an actor. For that, Jagya’s chapter must end. To start a new book, you must finish the old book first.”

Sara KhanShow: 'Dilliwali Thakur Gurls'
Curly haired Sara Khan decided to make an exit from the show citing the reason of ‘dissatisfaction’ with the way her character was shaping up. In the narration as well as even in the novel from where the show is adapted, her character was important and strong, but things didn’t work out the way it was narrated to Sara. The production house however gave her a graceful farewell.

As Aahil Ibrahim, Karanvir Bohra added more value to the second season of 'Qubool Hai' by creating fab screen chemistry with Surbhi Jyoti, giving the show’s sagging TRPs a boost. Six months back, Karanvir quit the show unhappy with the way his character was shaping up, only to be cajoled back after a week. A month ago, KV officially quit the show again due to creative differences. This time he’s unlikely to make a return.
