Couple Trouble, on why they chose to keep their married status hidden from everyone and she says, “Krushna and I never wanted to get married as we were very happy living together.
But one fine day, Krushna got up and proposed to me for marriage. I didn’t take him seriously at all. We were going to America in two days. So when we went there, we didn’t book any place for our marriage as I wasn’t sure. The friends who had come with us also didn’t have any clue. He took me to the marriage registrar there to seek permission for the marriage and got it registered on July 23. Next day, we went and got married.”
Kashmera adds, “We were in a live-in relationship for more than six years and were living like husband and wife. Although live-in
mein rehne ke bahut saare benefits hote hain, one major drawback of a live-in relationship is that we are neither considered married nor single. A woman doesn’t get any legal rights by being in such a relationship, like property
pe haq ya fir property saath mein nahi khareed sakte. From experience I can say, live-in relationships are not that great!”
Set reminders for your favourite TV Shows So why did the couple decide to make their marital status public? “I went to renew my passport recently and legally, I didn’t want to lie as I was now Kashmera Shah Sharma. So I went quietly to the officer in charge and showed him the marriage certificate. Since it was an American document, I was required to submit an affidavit too. So, in those two-three days of arranging for the affidavit, the news got leaked out. It was then when the whole family got to know. India

So will there be a proper band,
baaja and
baarat for the two now? “We will not be going in for a proper Indian marriage now that the news is out. We don’t want to spend lakhs for people who were against the marriage. We don’t want to feed the nobodies in our life,” she states.
