The petite Parul Yadav plays a real-life character in a film for the first time in Ram Gopal Varma’s Killing Veerapan, and quite naturally, she’s excited about it. Throw in some heavy-duty action and a rugged look — this is one avatar of Parul that she says people are going to be surprised with. “I have almost as much screenspace as Shivarajkumar has in this film and that is encouraging as far as being a performer is concerned.
The look is very different from what I have done before. There is no makeup, and I am usually seen in some shabby salwar kameez,” says Parul.
While she suffered an injury while shooting a stunt sequence, the actress says, “The team offered to fill in some shots with a body double, but I insisted on doing them myself. They were not very dangerous stunts. I had to run up and down an eight-storied building in a slum almost 30 times, and that can be quite challenging if you are not used to it. It was then that I suffered a ligament tear. But no regrets, really.”
The icing on the cake for Parul clearly seems to be the fact that she got to work with RGV. “Not everybody gets to work with RGV, and I am happy that I have got the opportunity. I am learning more every day with the kind of detailing that he stresses on for each shot. It is amazing how he brings to the screen everything that he visualizes. He also engages the actors so much that they automatically get into the groove,” she says.
