While a single hit takes an actor to a destiny transformational phase; in
Jimmy Sheirgill's case, the opportunity came knocking twice ' one professionally and another on the personal front. If 'Maachis' marked his grand entry into the hearts of cine lovers, 'Mohabbatein' was instrumental in making it to the heart and life of Delhi girl Priyanka Puri Sheirgill' then girlfriend, now wife.
Probably, that's the reason Jimmy often talks about how 'lady luck' smiled post 'Mohabbatein'.
Jimmy Shergill has a soft corner for sports Recently, when we met Priyanka, she said, 'Basically that's when I showed him to my dad officially. I told my father during the movie screening that he is the one I wanna get married to. So for both of us, 'Mohabbatein' has been a very special and close-to-heart film.' Though Priyanka can't stop raving about hubby's performance in every film he did, this particular film, released in late 2000, still makes her shy besides taking back to the time of her dating days. 'I have all the reasons to adore 'Mohabbatein',' she smiled.
Five years of dating, 15 years of marriage and still going strong, that too in a time when Bollywood is witnessing marriages falling apart. To this Priyanka said, 'It's really very scary. I cross my fingers when I hear all this. Moreover, what has happened among many celeb couples was never expected. Since we know almost all of them, it scares me more. I even feel jittery to pick up a paper early morning, for the fear of some unexpected divorce takes away all my peace. And most of the times, we also get to know about marriage troubles through news.' However, Priyanka feels Jimmy is caring and extremely understanding and there's nothing that she doesn't like about him.
Though fans often bombard Jimmy with their views/opinions, Jimmy's biggest critique is Priyanka, who give her honest and straight opinion. 'He takes it positively and we often discuss things. But trust me we never had a difference of opinion.' About media, which Priyanka avoids completely, she said, 'Nothing against anyone, but I like my life to be free from media glare. That's why I often stay away.'
With Jimmy's career moving ahead, is junior Shergill ' their 12-year-old son Veer ' too will step into his dad's shoes? 'It's difficult to tell because Veer's priorities keep changing. Sometime back he was keen to get into acting, but now it's the soccer fever that's gripping him. I often ask him about future, but he's too young and we being liberal, give him full space to explore things before jumping to any conclusion,' said Priyanka.
