My French Film Festival-India 2015, which showcased several French films online from January 16 to February 16, received a warm response in India. With the success of the festival, Half Ticket TV — a curated video-on-demand platform — has not only emerged as a medium for providing quality entertainment, but also for online release of films. Jagdish Rajpurohit founded the platform to bring Indian films and television content to Indian audiences worldwide through www.halfticket.tv.
He realised that many films don’t enjoy more than a week-long run in theatres, thus making it difficult for the film-makers to recover their money. He also added that sometimes, films don’t get a proper release due to paucity of screens. This platform addresses these issues by letting filmmakers release their films online, directly. Alternatively, they can release their movie after it has completed its run in theatres.

Also, sometimes audiences keep seeking good cinema, but can’t find it due to paucity of space. This will be the perfect platform for them,” says Rajpurohit.
The initiative has received support from film personalities like Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ketan Mehta, Swanand Kirkire and Makarand Deshpande.
