I am not ready for motherhood yet: Vidya Balan

It’s been more than a year now since Vidya Balan married filmmaker Siddharth Roy Kapur. But if you ask the actress if she is prepared for the next step of a marriage, that of having kids, she tells you, not yet. “I think motherhood is a huge responsibility. One that cannot be taken lightly. And while I have been married for more than a year now, I am not yet prepared to enter motherhood,” says Vidya.
The fact that Vidya, who plays a working woman who is forced to quit her job after she has a child in the film Shaadi Ke Side/Effects, has done nothing to either inspire or deter the actress from bearing children yet. “Well, my decision has nothing to do with my role in the film and no that is not the reason why I don’t want to have kids yet,” says Vidya, “Also, I don’t think having kids takes away from a marriage. In fact, I am sure it adds more to the couple, but since I haven’t taken that step yet, I cannot say for sure how having kids would affect a marriage in real.”
