Girish Kumar is Bollywood’s new bad boy

Girish Kumar, producer Kumar Taurani’s son, will make his Bollywood debut with Prabhudheva’s next, Ramaiya Vastavaiya, also starring Shruti Haasan. He will be seen as Ram, a rich and spoilt NRI brat.
Girish says he considers himself lucky to be debuting with a role that isn’t ‘safe’ by industry standards.
Says a source from the set, “Very few actors get the chance to play a character that does not fall into a safe category in their very first film.But when Girish was offered the role of a bigda hua ladka in Ramaiya Vastavaiya, he grabbed it. He was allowed to go all out and be as naughty as he wanted to, since it all worked in the favour of his role.”
Prabhudheva says, “Girish enjoyed playing Ram and that shows on screen. Everything fell into place because he didn’t have to try too hard — he is like Ram in real life as well.”
Ramaiya Vastavaiya releases July 19.
